Project Goals
As their children grew up and moved out, our clients decided to downsize to a more manageable home that better suited their current lifestyle. The goals for this project were:
- Enhance the Interior: Redesign their 1950s modern style flat to create a beautiful and functional city home.
- Flexible Living Areas: Create versatile spaces for both quiet, personal time and social gatherings with friends and family.
- Add a Garden House: Design and obtain planning permission for a garden house to serve as pilates and art studio, integrating with the garden.
Design Solutions
- Internal Layout Reconfiguration
To maximize the potential of the flat and accommodate the clients’ needs, we undertook a comprehensive reconfiguration of the internal layout, proposing an open plan living area, flexible rooms, and quiet zones.
- Décor and Aesthetics
We selected fixtures and finishes that honor the 1950s style while adding modern touches, enhancing the flat’s charm.
- Garden House Design
The design of the garden house complements the garden and surroundings, using materials and style that blend with the flat while providing a distinct, functional space. We secured planning permission ensuring it meet all the regulations and enhanced the overall property value.
Outcome
The project has successfully transformed the flat into a stylish and functional home tailored to their new lifestyle. Key outcomes include:
- Optimized Living Space: The new layout offers a harmonious blend of quiet retreats and open, social areas, enhancing the overall living experience.
- Enhanced Aesthetics: The decor respects the mid-century style while feeling modern.
- Functional Garden House: The garden house has become a valuable space for pilates and creative activities, offering a serene escape and additional functionality to the property.
Overall, the renovation upgraded the flat to better meet the clients’ needs while adding beauty and value.
