Project Goals

The main objective of this project was to replace an outdated lean-to with a modern side extension, transforming the kitchen and dining area into an open-plan, social space. Our clients—a young couple—wanted a stylish, inviting environment that would improve their quality of life and allow them to host social gatherings comfortably. The design incorporated modern elements, with a focus on natural light and a contemporary color palette, while staying true to the home’s character.

Design Solutions

1. Modern Side Extension To enhance the available space and introduce a sleek, updated look, we replaced the existing lean-to with a contemporary side extension. This new addition features a glass roof and elegant openings, which flood the interior with natural light and create a vibrant atmosphere ideal for social gatherings.
2. Open-Plan Kitchen and Dining Area To meet the couple’s desire for a more connected and functional living space, we designed an open-plan layout that seamlessly blends the kitchen and dining areas. This layout not only maximizes usable space but also fosters a more inclusive and adaptable environment for both daily life and hosting guests.
3. Stylish Windows and Color Palette We incorporated Kritle windows to add a modern touch and frame the outdoor views beautifully. The sophisticated grey and white color palette balances warmth with elegance, creating a welcoming space that’s both modern and timeless. 

Outcome

The finished renovation transformed the home into a bright, social environment, meeting the couple’s vision for a functional yet stylish living space. The open-plan kitchen and dining area, with its abundant light and sleek design, now serves as the ideal spot for both relaxation and social gatherings. This renovation has greatly enhanced the clients’ quality of life, providing them with a modern, versatile space that aligns with their lifestyle needs.
